01 Who We Are

Nearplay is an iOS application developed and operated by Remembr LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16355328). We are committed to being transparent about how we handle your data.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it when you use the Nearplay app.

02 What We Collect

Nearplay collects only the data necessary to provide its core functionality — automatically triggering Apple Music playback as you approach saved destinations. We collect:

We do not collect or store the contents of your Apple Music library on our servers. MusicKit operates on-device and playback is handled directly by Apple.

03 Apple Music Integration

Nearplay integrates with Apple Music via Apple's MusicKit framework. When you grant Apple Music access, the app can:

Apple Music access is managed entirely through iOS permissions. We do not transmit your Apple Music library data to our servers. All playback is handled by the native MusicKit framework on your device.

04 Location Data

Location is the core of what Nearplay does. To detect when you approach a saved destination and trigger playback at the right moment, Nearplay requires access to your device location.

Your location is processed on-device to calculate distances to your Destination Drops. Precise location coordinates are not stored on our servers beyond what is necessary to deliver the service.

You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Nearplay. Revoking this permission will disable proximity-based playback triggers.

05 Calendar Access

Calendar access is entirely optional. If you choose to create a Destination Drop from a calendar event, Nearplay will request permission to read your device calendars.

You can revoke calendar access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars → Nearplay.

06 Contacts Access

Contacts access is entirely optional. If you choose to create a Destination Drop from a contact, Nearplay will request permission to read your device contacts.

You can revoke contacts access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts → Nearplay.

07 Authentication & Account Data

Nearplay uses Firebase Authentication (provided by Google) to manage user accounts. You can sign in using:

We store your user ID, email address, and subscription status in Firebase Firestore in order to sync your Destination Drops and manage your account. Firebase is operated by Google — see Firebase Privacy for details.

08 How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect solely to provide and improve Nearplay:

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.

09 Sharing Your Data

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share limited data with third parties only where necessary to operate the service:

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

10 Data Retention

We retain your account and Destination Drop data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed from our systems within 30 days. You can delete your account at any time from within the Nearplay app.

11 Your Rights

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@nearplay.live. We will respond within 30 days.

12 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via the app or by email. Continued use of Nearplay after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
